boardmans best baptismal bowl

boardman made several styles of baptismal bowls.  collectors consider this type offered for sale the best.  see picture and comments on pg. 123 of the pcca's "pewter in American life" book.  this form is complex and labor intensive.  it is made of five separate sections of basins and dishes fitted and soldered together to create a very impressive design.  the top diameter is 8 7/16", the bottom diameter is 6 3/8" and the heightis 3 3/4".  the bottom is marked "td & sb" for Thomas Danforth and Sherman boardman.  their quality "x" mark is also struck to the bottom.  the bowl was made between 1815 and 1825.  it is in excellent condition.
