townsend & compton quart tankard

i am glad to offer this good example of export pewter holloware made for the american market by john townsend and thomas compton of london between 1784 and 1802.  the quart stands 8 1/4" to the top of its open chair thumbpiece, the double 'c' fishtail handle and complex double dome lid compliment the tulip shaped body nicely.  the tankard is in very good condition with a good parital 'lamb of god' touchmark inside.
