thomas danforth quart mug
offered for sale is this fine example of pewter hollow ware crafted by thomas danforth III of stepney, connecticut 1777 to 1818 and philadelphia, pennsylvania 1807 to 1813. danforths' (l368) rampant lion touch is on the inside bottom. for some unknown reason, h. n. rust of new york circa 1830 added his touch to the mugs outside bottom. perhaps he marked and used it personally? the mug stands 6" tall, has a 4 13/16" base diameter and a 4" top diameter. it is in very good condition with evidence of hand scraping on the handle and turning lines on the bottom.
