townsend export hot water plate
i am very pleased to offer this exceptional hot water plate made for export to the colonies by john townsend. townsend was a quaker preacher and pewterer. he made very fine pewter in london from 1748 to 1801. much of his pewter was exported to america and he traveled to the colonies making contacts and as a guest preacher. the hot water plate is 9 1/4" in diameter and nicely marked. it is in very good condition.
