plain townsend export plate

i am pleased to offer this very plain (no incised lines) flat rim plate made in london, england probably for export to a quaker community in america.  it was made by the partnership of townsend and compton between 1784 and 1801.  john townsend was also a quaker preacher that had spent time in and around philadelphia, pennsylvania as a visiting traveling preacher.  the 8 3/8" plate is in excellent original uncleaned condition.
