exquisite coffee urn
i am most pleased to offer this paneled octagonal urn with square plinth base on ball feet. this may be the most complex and best detailed pewter item of the period. it was made in sheffield, england by dixon & son between 1823 and 1829. the handles are turned wood as well as the lid top. the faucet is brass 'patent' with bone knop. there is a sheet steel lidded insert which holds an iron heater rod (which is missing) meant to keep the contents warm. the urn is heavily constructed and is in very good condition inside and out. this urn needs a nice side board to call home. it stands 16 1/2" tall and is 12" wide.
