Circa 1800 Boston Plate

This excellent plate is 8 inches in diameter.  It bears the attractive Lamb & dove mark of Richard Austin. He worked in Boston from 1793 - 1817.  The name Eliza Mowry Mendon is scratched on the back and was probably its first owner.  All original skimming marks are plainly visible to the front rim and booge.

Note additional information on this plate:  Fine Antique dealer Chris Rebollo researched the name Eliza Mowrey and "found an Eliza Mowrey in Worcester County, MA. who lived in the town of Mendon.  She was born in 1807 so my guess is that she was given this plate and others at the time of her marriage.  It is possible that her mother was also named Eliza Mowrey but I couldn't find anything about her.  Either way, it's a very early inscription and it documents the plate to a specific family."  My thanks to Chris for this information.

The price is $425.00
