Henry Joseph Sauce Boat
Henry Joseph of London made this excellent sauce boat between 1736 and 1792. His initial touch and quality crown 'X' marks are well struck to the underside. This well designed form has an acanthus leaf handle and pedestal base. Early owners initials 'SM' are engraved on the handle. The boat is 7 1/2" long and is 4 7/8" tall. Eighteenth century sauce boats in this fine condition are hard to find.
