Compton 9" Export Basin
This very nice basin was made in London between 1814 and 1835 by Townsend and Henry Compton for export to America. The Hudson Bay Company sold Compton basins between 1822 and 1855. Compton pewter was always of the highest quality hard metal and was well finished. The outside of the piece is finished with at least nine rows of hammermarks. The basin is in good condition.
