jonathan/william danforth plate

I am pleased to offer this very nice 7 7/8” single reed plate likely made by william danforth in middletown, connecticut while partnering with johnathan danforth between 1790 and 1794. they used joseph danforth sr’s touchmark and hallmarks dies to mark their pieces. each danforth had a unique angle of striking the dual touchmarks. the plate is in very good condition with skimming (finishing) marks on the front rim. eighteenth CENTURY american pewter plates are scarce.
