It is with a heavy heart that i announce the passing of my beloved husband, Frank M. Powell, on April 1, 2024. Following is his obituary:

Frank Powell was truly a renaissance man, deeply passionate about pewter and dedicated to mastering all aspects of its craft. From repairing to buying and selling this old gray metal, his expertise was unparalleled. A born artisan and craftsman, Frank's skills extended far beyond pewter as he apprenticed as a young man to become a Journeyman Electrician, showcasing his versatility and thirst for knowledge. He held deep admiration for craftsmen of the past and carried on their legacy through his honest business practices, marked by profound knowledge and fairness. Even as his health wavered, Frank's drive never faltered. Whether customizing his beloved Mustang cars or meticulously assembling model cars, he exemplified a relentless work ethic and a restless spirit. A devoted father and husband, Frank's legacy is not only in his craftsmanship but also in the lasting love and pride he instilled in those around him. jill powell 7/28/2024

19 1/2" tall 1700 alter sticks

i am very pleased to offer this exceptional pair of 19 1/2" tall pricket candlesticks circa 1700. they are marked with a touchmark containing 'pr' and a bell. a second mark contains a NUREMBERG shield and the letter 'l'. very similar examples are shown in hornsby's "pewter of the western world" on page 321 (figures 1084 and 1085). note the early ball knop and ball feet as well as acorn and baluster turnings. the pair is in excellent condition and have led sacred lives.
