important danforth salt

less than a handful of these thomas danforth II marked salts exist.  thomas danforth ii was the only maker in america to mark his salts.  there are a few unmarked examples as well.  salts attributed to will and boyd are plentiful compared to this connecticut salt.  thomas danforth ii used his 'crowned x' quality mark on the bottom of this form.  the salt stands 1 9/16" tall and is 2 3/4" in diameter at the belly.  the mark is perfect and the condition is very good.  it is circa 1770 and made in middletown, connecticut.
